At Park Street Counseling our focus is on health and growth. Many people suffer from depression, loss, anxiety, guilt and self esteem issues. Hugh and Patricia, working together, treat a variety of concerns of adolescents, young adults, adults, couples and seniors.

At Park Street Counseling we use Hypnocounseling where appropriate to change patterns of unwanted behavior. Using Brief, Solution Focused Therapy people can be trained in Self–Hypnosis to take back control of their lives. Self-Hypnosis can be used for smoking cessation and to modify other addictions. In addition, Self-Hypnosis can enhance athletic and academic performance.

Our dual counseling lasts approximately 1 ˝-2 hrs per session.
Arrangements can be made for a sliding fee scale, however, we do not accept insurance.

Gunnison,H.(2004).Hypnocounseling: An eclectic bridge between Milton Erickson and Carl Rogers. Crown House Publishing Ltd., Norwalk, CT. www.chpus.com

HOME STUDY - 20 hours continuing education (CE) credit reviewed and approved by NBCC.

Course Description:

"Counseling is to Carl Rogers as Hypnosis is to Milton Erickson." This workshop purports to bring a person-centered hypnosis to Psychology and other helping professions. Erickson and Rogers worked to restore personal power and control within the client. Although using different methods to achieve similar goals, both trusted the development of the individual's internal frame of reference which would ultimately facilitate growth and change in the present, not the past. As the foremost contributer to a modern method of hypnosis; Erickson's therapy focused on trance elicitation as the key that unlocks the individual's stored potential. Rogers, on the other hand, wrought a compassionate therapeutic climate that also elicited a deep sense of self-discovery to emerge. Hypnocounseling merges Rogers' Person-Centered Approach with Erickson's Utilization Approach to create opportunities for choice, deep understandings, and change. While there is much written about brief therapy Hypnocounseling is at the cutting edge.
